13 June 2023 – The “Grid Efficiency and Resilience” (GEAR) is an international initiative focused on electricity grid maintenance and efficiency improvements in emerging markets. The aim of GEAR is to maximise the amount of electricity delivered to end-users accelerating socio-economic development without increasing emissions.
- GEAR is seeking an expert that will liaise with national utilities and governments across Sub-Saharan Africa to identify energy efficiency projects for GEAR.
Targeted countries for this assignment include Anglophone and Francophone countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, in particular, but are not limited to: Benin, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. - GEAR is seeking an expert that will liaise with national utilities and governments from Lusophone countries to identify energy efficiency projects for GEAR.
Key target countries for the assignment include Angola, Brazil and Mozambique.
Additionally, the experts, in close collaboration with ARE, will identify and liaise with key private sector companies and investors engaged in grid efficiency projects in emerging markets to scope the latest state-of-art knowledge, technologies and access to finance for efficiency projects and the companies’ interest in collaborating with ARE and its partners on the GEAR initiative.
